A Personal Testimony – Why I Will Never Forget Haiti

On my second mission trip to Haiti, I met Comita and the precious orphaned children she was caring for. I will never forget what I saw.

When we arrived, Comita was in the backyard picking leaves to make soup. Not because it was a special recipe...but because there was nothing else. The food was gone. The rent was due. Promised support had not come.

She was doing everything she could with what little she had to keep those children fed.

Our small mission team immediately emptied their pockets to buy food and cooking fuel. It wasn’t much — but at that moment, it meant everything.

That day is etched in my heart forever.

Epistle of James 1:27 tells us that pure and faultless religion is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.

That Scripture has echoed in my heart ever since.

The mission is clear: care for these children.
